if we remember back..
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, the manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi - is there really anyone out there who has never ever heard anything about this series? I honestly doubt that. For most of us anime/manga fans, Sailor Moon has lead us to where we are now.If we think about it, it's your typical magical girl plotline, nothing too fancy: It's about an ordinary young girl named Usagi Tsukino, who one day meets a talking cat named Luna. Luna then explains to her that the world is in danger, and Usagi is the one who can rescue the world once she has awakened her dormant powers. Since this fateful day, Usagi has been fighting as Sailor Moon together with a number of friends who joined her later, all in oder to save the world from the evil.
So what makes this series so special then, you ask? Personally speaking, for me it's definitely the wide range of unique characters. Naoko's masterpiece bears so, so many wonderful characters, who all develop immensely throughout the story.
| Best example? Starting as a 14-year old crybaby, as the story progresses Usagi turns into a mature and strong young woman, who has an inner light that can bright the darkest corners in the whole galaxy. | |
two lonely stars part of galaxy
So why now Usagi & Seiya? Apart from the fact both are my favourite characters, I adore their relationship this even more. <33NOTE: So, who has read the manga knows that there, the Sailor Starlights/Three Lights are actually females who only disguised themselves as male popstars in order to look for their lost princess. Now the anime has pulled this stunt with making them male (and having them turn into females when they transform, umm..) which is kinda, not only confusing, but also weird. However, having seen the anime first (as a 8-year-old or something, haha) I'm still very, very used to address Seiya as "him", so.. forgive me, yes? Old habits are hard to break. :D

Where do we start? At the beginning of the last season, "Stars", Usagi had to part with Mamoru and therefore, she actually never was quite herself. Deep down the poor girl was was incredibly lonely and depressed, since Mamoru didn't contact her over the whole time- but still, Usagi being Usagi, she didn't want to worry anyone and did her best to hide those feelings. She pretty much succeeeded- until Seiya appeared, that is.
| Seiya helped Usagi to find her old self again; he comforted her and was there when she needed him. He never intended to replace Mamoru (like all the people who bash this relationship suggest)- at first he was simply amazed by how bright and wonderful her inner light, her star was shining, even though he saw how much she was suffering. | |
It was only a matter of time Seiya had to fall for Usagi's natural self- the Usagi also we all learnt to love- and she let her mask split in front of him as a proof of how deep and profound the bond is they share, and also as a way of trusting him.
Still, their relationship is nothing as heavy as "destined by fate".
|
But exactly because of this, their relationship is so beautiful and most of all natural. I myself always had the feeling whenever I've watched them interacting, that I saw two young people who were having fun, enjoying their lives and really cared for each other, a lot. |
..so what I mean to say is, there was no sign of being a soldier to rescue the world for those moments; or any other burdens the senshis normally have to take upon them. Both of them stepped upon a new ground of affection - based on trust and deep care from the bottom of your heart. I'm not sure if one would be able to call it love- but either way, it is something very specia, only these two share.
